The Ford Mustang pace car was definitely one of the coolest rides on the track during 2009 races at Bristol Motor Speedway. But get this, for a mere $10 it's going to end up in one very lucky person's garage.

The 2009 BMS pace car, valued at nearly $32,000, is the grand prize for the second running of the Sharky 500, slated for Oct. 17, at BMS.

What is the Sharky 500? It's a race featuring up to 10,000 rubber sharks along Beaver Creek at Bristol Motor Speedway. Individuals can purchase a shark to be entered in the race (winner does not have to be present to win).

The rubber sharks are now on sale at Bristol Motor Speedway. They also may be purchased at Tri-Cities area Grand Home Furnishing Stores, all 63 regional Pizza Plus locations and at participating Fas Mart convenience stores.

Individuals also may click here to purchase sharks online.

The race takes place on Beaver Creek between the Speedway and Bristol Dragway. The sharks are released simultaneously and the first one to the finish line will win its owner the BMS pace car.

Second place is $5,000 to Grand Home Furnishings and third place is a vacation package to Universal Studios Orlando, courtesy of All Journeys Travel. Prizes also will be award for fourth place through 10th place. Winners are not required to be present to win and there is no limit on the number of sharks that may be purchased.

All proceeds from the Sharky 500 will benefit the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities, which has raised in excess of $4.5 million in the last 12 years for children's agencies in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
