The Ford Mustang pace car is definitely one of the coolest rides on the track during August race week at Bristol Motor Speedway. And for a mere $10, it could end up in one very lucky person's garage.

The 2009 BMS pace car, valued at nearly $32,000, is the grand prize for the second running of the Sharky 500, slated for Oct. 17, at BMS. Last year's inaugural race raised nearly $45,000 for the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.

The rubber sharks will be on sale at Bristol Motor Speedway for $10 each during race weekend, Aug. 21-22. Sharks may be purchased at the Speedway Children's Charities tent in the display area (near the creek), the on-site Fas Mart convenience store or from volunteers roaming the property.

The race takes place on Beaver Creek between the Speedway and Bristol Dragway. The sharks are released simultaneously and the first one to the finish line will win its owner the BMS pace car.

Second place is $5,000 to Grand Home Furnishings and third place is a vacation package to Universal Studios Orlando, courtesy of All Journeys Travel. Prizes also will be award for fourth place through 10th place. Winners are not required to be present to win and there is no limit on the number of sharks that may be purchased.

Tickets are available at any of the 63 area Pizza Plus restaurants and may be purchased at Grand Home Furnishings after Aug. 23. Fas Mart convenience stores will sell the sharks in September.

Sharks also are available for purchase online at www.bristolmotorspeedway.

All proceeds from the Sharky 500 will benefit the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities, which has raised in excess of $4.5 million in the last 12 years for children's agencies in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
