Speedway Children's Charities recently awarded Hands On! Regional Museum the funding to offer free field trips for elementary students. When Hands On!, this area's only museum and science center dedicated to children's learning, sent out an email inviting schools to sign up for the Speedway Children's Charities field trips, the response was overwhelming. Within 48 hours, teachers had called and reserved all the funds, which provided free admission and transportation for 655 children and 26 teachers from 9 area elementary schools. In addition to hands-on activities and educational programs led throughout Hands On!, these visitors also saw and heard a variety of nearly life-sized robotic dinosaurs on display in the feature exhibit, "Return of the Dinosaurs," thanks to the generosity of Speedway Children's Charities.

One principal, whose students participated, shared that "the teachers and students who visited Hands On! because of the Speedway Children's Charities Grant had a really wonderful time. The teachers made it a point to tell him that the folks at Hands On! were ‘very professional' and did a great job keeping everything organized and running efficiently."

On behalf of all these children and teachers, Hands On! Regional Museum thanks Speedway Children's Charities for making a difference in the lives of so many children in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia!
