With racing complete for the season at Bristol Motor Speedway, action moves from the concrete to the ice with the opening of the Johnson Controls Ice Rink Tuesday, Nov. 11.

The ice skating "season opener" is one of the area's most anxiously anticipated days of the year as the Johnson Controls Ice Rink is the only rink in the region. It will open Tuesday and remain open through Jan. 11.

The rink is open six days a week, closing only on Mondays for maintenance.

The rink is open from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Friday hours are 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday the rink will open from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. The cost to skate is $5, plus an additional $2 for skate rental.

The ice rink will have extended hours during the holidays. They are as follows: Nov. 27 (4 p.m.-11 p.m.), Nov. 28-29 (2 p.m.-11 p.m.), Dec. 22-23 (2 p.m.-10 p.m.), Dec. 24-25 (4 p.m.-10 p.m.), Dec. 26 (2 p.m.-10 p.m.), Dec. 27 (2 p.m.-11 p.m.) and Dec. 31 (2 p.m.-11 p.m.),

The 60' x 120' rink is covered and is located at Speedway's main entrance just off Hwy. 11E (Volunteer Parkway) near the elevator tower displaying the large "Bristol" signage.

The rink also is the perfect place for private or school parties. To book a party on Thursdays for school activities or for a private party on Saturday or Sunday, please contact Sonya Moore at (423) 989-6924 or email sonya@bristolmotorspeedway.com.
