There is only one place to be this time of year if you want to hang out with Santa, have fun on carnival rides -- and take a drive around the World's Fastest Half-Mile - Subway Christmas Village at Bristol Motor Speedway. Speedway In Lights, the region's largest holiday light show, begins Friday, Nov. 14 with more than 200 displays, nearly two million lights and plenty of activities in the Subway Christmas Village in the BMS infield.

Subway, the world's largest submarine sandwich chain with more than 30,000 restaurants in 87 countries, is a valued partner of Speedway In Lights.

"The Subway Restaurants in the Tri-Cities market are very excited to take the relationship with Speedway in Lights to the next level," said Ken Vance, Subway's board chair for the Tri-Cities area. "Last year we were a partner in SIL and we are thrilled to be the official sponsor the Subway Christmas Village this year! Positioning ourselves with such a fine, charitable organization shows we care not only about the healthy eating habits of children, but that we care about the well-being of children as a whole."

While the 4.2 miles of lights and displays along the drive-through route are spectacular, the stop in the Subway Christmas Village in the infield after taking a lap on the .533-mile oval is equally exciting. Santa himself will be available for photos and will preside over plenty of fun, like marshmallow roasting and a half-dozen carnival rides.

Along with the rides, a number of food vendors will be on hand, and if there is holiday shopping to be done, spectators are in luck as several craft merchants will be on hand. Speedway In Lights souvenirs also will be available in Subway Christmas Village and the Subway show car will make an appearance Nov. 20-24.

Proceeds from Speedway In Lights Powered by TVA, benefit the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities, a non-profit foundation dedicated to distributing funds to qualified children's charities.
