Thursday, June 29, 2006
One of the most action-packed weeks NASCAR has to offer just got a bit more exciting as fans now have the opportunity to participate in the Richard Petty Driving Experience Ride-Along program during Bristol Motor Speedway's popular August race week.
While NASCAR's best will take to the track for the O'Reilly 200 Craftsman Truck Series event on Wednesday, Aug. 23, followed by the Food City 250 Busch Series race on Friday evening and culminating with the sold-out Sharpie 500 on Saturday night, fans also will have the chance to tour the concrete oval as part of the Richard Petty Driving Experience.
The Richard Petty Driving Experience Ride-Alongs will be available on two days, Thursday, Aug. 24 and Sunday, Aug. 27. Participants will be outfitted in a firesuit before taking to the track where they'll get to ride around NASCAR's most popular track for three laps.
A portion of the proceeds from the Richard Petty Driving Experience Ride-Alongs will benefit the Bristol chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.
Anyone interested in taking part in the Ride-Alongs, should pre-register at 1-800-BE-PETTY. Participants must be 14 years of age or stand at least four feet tall and weigh 80 pounds. There are a limited number of rides available so anyone interested in participating should register promptly.
Cost of the rides is $149 per person. Rides will take place on Aug. 24 from 8 a.m.- 10 a.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, participants will be given a credit that may be used at any Richard Petty Driving Experience event for up to one year.
