It seems like we were just visiting the pediatric ward at Hoston Valley Medical Center with our Holiday of Smiles goody bags and now it's the end of February!

That means that the Food City 500 weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway is less than 30 days away. We're so excited to welcome 160,000 of our closest friends to town and SCC is even more excited to have the opportunity to raise money for the children in our community. We have two large fundraisers; the Ride of a Lifetime Auction presented by Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies in Gatlinburg, TN and the rides conducted by Richard Petty Driving Experience. Both are unique opporutnities for race fans to either ride around the track or interact with their favorite drivers. We've held both fundraisers for a few years now and they've really grown. With the economy uncertainty we've all wondered how they'll go in 2009. We're so anxious to raise more money than ever because the financial climate is going to cause our non-profit children's agencies to need it more than ever. SCC really wants to step it up this year and help meet more of the need. If you're interested in our upcoming March fundraisers visit our Events page on this website.

In addition to those mentioned above we will also have some smaller fundraisers taking place around property. We will be selling a limited edition painting of Bristol Motor Speedway by Doug Shealy. There are only 2,500 and each is signed and numbered by the artist. Fans will also have the opportunity to leave a permanent mark at BMS on the Walk of Fame. SCC will be set up in front of the old ticket office selling these items. BMS visitors will see NASCAR Day pins everywhere they turn during the Food City 500 weekend too. SCC and the NASCAR Foundation have partnered once again to get people involved in NASCAR Day on May 16. Pins are only $5 and the proceeds will go to support both organizations.

We love race week and we love raising money for kids so if you have any questions about what I've mentioned feel free to give me a call, 423-989-6975 or shoot me an email The racing season has begun and SCC is ready to make 2009 a great year for thousands of children!
